Today was the first day of our classes. First, I had my major which is drawing. We walked all the way to the Duomo and past it a little bit to an alleyway art store. Anyway, we got our art supplies which consists of one big drawing pad, HB and B pencils (yay!!), some charcoal pencils (Yay, no touching it!) erasers, and a pen. We spent about an hour talking about what we are going to do and how things are going to be graded. Basically, all you need to do is try, but they need to see that you are understanding the lesson and following their rules. They give homework for the nights and expect you to do some personal work on our own outside of class.
Today we did contour drawing which is where you look at an object and do not look at the drawing pad while drawing a continuous line and the homework tonight was to do contours of our faces which I did, and my face is sooo screwed up. It is actually pretty funny.

This evening I signed up for the “night sketching”. We went to the bridge and sketched whatever we saw from it. Over one of the bridges there were floating lights in the sky so I took some pictures of those. Otherwise I drew a picture of a cool tower next to a nice bridge that was reflected in the water. I thought it was good for something done in the dark. The funny part about it was that in real life the floating lights were on the other side of the bridge I was on and the tower was behind the bridge; I however drew the floating lights on the wrong side of the bridge, and the bridge was behind the tower. I named it Italia Ailati because it is backwards. I thought it was funny. It was a good chance to get to know people better and I enjoyed it.
