July 18th

So today was a pretty interesting day. For Drawing, we went over the bridge to this little square with a nice fountain and a few café’s around it. On one side there was an unfinished church with the side wall completely blank and boring. Our project for today was to change all that though. Lindsay and William gave us a stencil of the outline of the church and then inside it we could do whatever we wanted with any materials as long as it was good and creative. This was kind of scary though because I had no ideas at first and no references to look at; it all had to be from my mind. In the end though I created a cool nightmare dream scene which I think is good.

The evening activity I chose tonight was to go to Palazzo Vechio where the statue of Poseidon is and go into the palace. It was pretty cool in there even though it was very humid inside. There were lots of great artworks on the ceiling and it is amazing to imagine someone living there so many centuries ago. It belonged to the Medici family at one point and many of the rooms were designed for them and what they did for the family. I even got to go part way up the tower and take some cool pictures of the surrounding area. It was really nice and cool tonight so along with the amazing view was a nice breeze (I was able to wear jeans!!)
